Starwood Capital chairman and CEO Barry Sternlicht has stepped down from his CEO position at compan subsidiary SH Hotels & Resorts, but will remain as chairman and continue to be involved in the organization, the company announced. Arash Azarbarzin will succeed Sternlicht as SH Hotels & Resorts CEO, effective immediately. He most recently was president of the company for the past three years.
Azarbarzin has more than 30 years of industry experience, including leadership roles at St. Regis Hotels, W Hotels, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, and as a founding member at the SBE hotel group. In 2020, he joined the board of directors of the American Hotel & Lodging Association.
SH Hotels & Resorts brands include 1 Hotels, Baccarat Hotels and Treehouse Hotels. The company’s U.S. pipeline includes properties in Kauai, Miami, Nashville and San Francisco, and elsewhere includes properties in Copenhagen, London, Manchester, Paris, Saudi Arabia and Toronto.
