Sixt has promoted Italy managing director Michael Meissner as president and COO for the U.S region, effective immediately. Meissner has been at Sixt for 13 years, in which he contributed significantly to the car rental company’s international expansion by building up the Benelux (Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg) and Italian markets. Sixt in a statement said Meissner’s appointment furthers the company’s plan to position itself to gain significant share in the U.S. market. This latest C-suite appointment follows Sixt’s naming of former Hertz Global CFO Thomas Kennedy as president and CFO for the U.S. region in November 2020.
According to Sixt, Meissner and Kennedy each hold the title of president, focusing on different areas. As COO, Meissner is responsible for operations, including mobility, fleet services, human resources, revenue and capacity management; as CFO, Kennedy is responsible for finance, including strategy, the shared service center, corporate development and procurement, according to the company.
